Questions People Often Ask
Can foreigners own property in Thailand?
Yes. Foreigners can own condos freehold, subject to the foreign ownership quota. Houses and land are different, while leasehold gives you rights for an agreed period rather than outright ownership. If you’re unsure which applies to a particular property, ask us and we’ll explain the options.
How do I make sure I’m buying safely?
We carry out our own checks before introducing developments or properties to our clients. Before you buy, we also recommend an independent lawyer checks the ownership, title, contract and payment terms — giving you an additional layer of protection.
Do I need to fly out to view properties?
Not necessarily. If you’re buying purely as an investment, the numbers may matter more than seeing the property yourself. For lifestyle, retirement or relocation buyers, experiencing the location can be just as important as viewing the property. Either way, we can help you decide the best approach.
What does the service cost?
We don’t add any charges when you buy a property through Properties Thailand. We are paid by the developer, agent or owner when the sale completes. Only additional services, such as a VIP Viewing Trip, may carry a separate cost, and this will always be made clear to you in advance.
Will I be under any pressure to buy?
No. Buying property is a major decision and you should only proceed when you’re comfortable. Our role is to give you the information, options and support you need to make the decision easier.
